North Korea fired three short-range ballistic missiles off its east coast from the Kangwon province on early Saturday. The launches occurred during the US and South Korea’s annual Ulchi Freedom Guardian military exercises. The US military initially reported that North Korea’s first and third missiles failed in flight. However, they later amended their remarks by adding that missiles flew approximately kilometers in northeastern direction. Noth Korea’s second missile blew up almost immediately after the launch. North Korea launched these missiles as a response to South Korean military exercises involving the US. Thousands of US and South Korean troops are currently taking part in joint military drills. Although North Korea claims that it is having the ability to send missiles on US mainland, US defense officials said that these short-ranged missiles did not threaten North America or Guam.
North Korea’s missile test is clearly because of the drills between US and South Korean troops. Both US and South Korea say that the training is defensive, however, North Korea sees it as provocative and hostile. A day before the exercises began, Pyongyang warned that the US was risking an “uncontrollable phase of a nuclear war.” North Koreas state run media said that the country’s media van attack the US at any time and that neither Guam, Hawaii or the US mainland will be available to avoid this “merciless strike”. However, US Secretary of state Rex Tillerson attempted to reduce the tension by noting there have been no missile tests by North Korea since a United Nations Security Council resolution sanctioning Pyongyang was passed earlier this month. Tillerson stated the North Korea’s “restraint” as pleasing and that it could open pathways for some dialogue and mutual understanding in the future. However, barely a day later some images emerged showing the north Korean leader KIM JONG UN inspecting the missiles and missile fuls components.Analysts said that photos showed north koreas solid fuel missile program. Solid fuel missiles are faster and easier to deploy, and harder to catch before they launch because there’s a lot less to be done in terms of launch preparation. All US and Russian ballistic missiles are solid-fuel models.
North korea have conducted a series of ballistic missile test this year.It has fired more than 20 missiles sice February, making its missikes more powerful with every attack. In July, it launched an intercontinental ballistic missile, which North Korea claims could reach “anywhere in the world.” Earier this month President Donald trump warned Pyongyang to make no more threats against the US or it will “face fire and fury like the world has never seen.”
