Jennifer is returning to television 13 years after Friends came to an end in a show for Apple. The new project will star Jennifer Aniston and Reese Witherspoon, both of whom will also be the executive producers of the project. The Tv series will be about the behind the scenes drama of a tv morning show. The series has been described by Apple as
“an inside look at the lives of the people who help America wake up in the morning, exploring the unique challenges faced by the women (and men) who carry out this daily televised ritual”.
This will not only be the Jennifer Aniston first tv role since starring as Rachel Green in the famous US sitcom Friends, but it will also be the first time that the two actresses, Jennifer Aniston and Reese Witherspoon will be working together since the Friends. The announcement of series comes just months after Reese Witherspoon produced “big little lies” that won eight Emmy awards for HBO. This project is a major success for Apple considering the big-name stars involved in this new series and the competition it likely faced from other major streaming and cable networks. Apple has already ordered two seasons of the show but has not confirmed any details such as the name, release date and distribution platform for the show.
This is the second series ordered by Apple, after Steven Spielberg’s reboot of his 1980s anthology series Amazing Stories was announced. Media Res will produce the series for Apple, with founder Michael Ellenberg billed as an executive producer. Emmy-nominated Jay Carson (“House of Cards”) will write, executive produce and serve as showrunner for the series.
It is interesting to see how different companies are trying to penetrate into the entertainment industry for marketing reasons and expanding the risk base of the company. Jennifer Aniston would return to the TV screen after almost a decade and share screen with the versatile Resse Witherspoon, the show would be worth watching. The domination of Netflix over all the Tv serials should be introduced with some new competitors in the market because a monopoly will only harm the interests of the viewers.
