When there is a news that is given coverage all over the Indian media because of being so grandiose, there are likely to be a lot of sentiments and emotions attached to it. Recently, a news broke in the media that Google has hired a 16-years old boy from Chandigarh as a graphic designer for an annual salary of whopping ₹1.44 Crore.
The news spread when the Departments of Public Relations in Chandigarh released a press release on 29 July that a teenager who completed his Standard XIII has been selected by Google as an employee. The news was then taken by all the media outlets disseminating the news in print media and electronic media.
The press released stated,
“He went for online interview through video conferencing and was selected on the basis of posters designed by him while doing class 12th under the supervision of his teachers. His achievements will act as a morale booster for other students and they will be inspired to make forays into this field,”
However, the happy news turned into a shocking and sorrowful news when a representative from Google confirmed that no such appointment has been made till now. This led to the inception of a blame game where the school principal, Education Secretary, and several other government officials refused to have come across any such information or news.
The school principal stated that she never saw the letter that the student claimed was sent by Google as an appointment letter for the job.
The above-posted notice was issued by the school principal even before authenticating the truthfulness and reliability of this news.
The young lad, Harshit Sharma, in an interview stated,
“I never expected to get selected for Google. Since the age of 10, I used to do graphic design as I was inspired and trained by my uncle Rohit Sharma. Slowly, it became my passion and I always aimed for a job in Google. Whatever I am is because of my uncle and I owe my selection to him as I never joined any professional institute for training,”
According to recent media reports, Harshit Sharma has been hospitalized after the media hype that turned out to be hollow claims.
The mother of Harshit Sharma stated that the call was thought to be from California and the appointment offer was considered to be genuine but it was only after media probe, it turned to be a hoax. The boy is depressed and really embarrassed about the incident due to which his health conditions deteriorated and he was hospitalized on Thursday’s morning.
