Men's golf continues hot streak while women's team improves

The men's and women's golf teams are now well underway into their seasons and are proving that they both deserve a top spot this year.

The men's golf team continued their high place finish streak this past weekend in a tournament held from Oct. 8-10.  Senior Austin Reeves' (+5) final round of 68 lead Furman to a third place finish in the Big 5 Invitational at the par-70 Plymouth Country Club in Plymouth Meeting, PA.

A challenging season for the Paladin volleyball team made a turn for the better with four recent home games.

The team competed in a successful home opener against Samford on Saturday, Oct. 1. Apart from a 1-point lead close to the end of the third set, Samford was constantly chasing after the Paladins, who earned several early leads. The final scores for all three sets were 25-22, 25-20, and 28-26.

Consistent success propels men's soccer through national rankings

The Paladins finally had their winning streak broken recently, but they are far from falling on hard times. In fact, they are currently ranked #19 in the Fox Soccer NCAA Top 25 and #26 in the latest College Soccer News Top 30. Once again, they have begun an unbeaten run of three wins or ties in a row.

Dear Diary

(ten seconds later) Brunty connects to Walters and ball makes way nearer to goal. Loth goes over for score and I stand in exit aisle wondering if Paladins can score again in two seconds. 4:51 – They couldn't… And That's All.

From the Stands

This past week, Commissioner David Stern announced that the first two weeks of the NBA's regular season would be canceled. It is only the second time in the professional sport's history that teams will not be participating in all 82 games.

The last time this happened was back in 1998, when the players were locked out for almost half of the season.

For anyone who hasn't been following all the lockout drama that started over the summer, the basic rift between team owners and their players is this: owners want to reduce the players' cut of the (less-than-impressive) annual revenue in an effort to salvage the game's economic health.
